A pile of OOTW goodness!

Here it is, a pile of OOTW. It took me back a bit when I put all the pages together tonight and checked it out. I like to print everything out locally (I assume most do) to see how the story reads, change anything that needs fixin’, and to just love the creation.

After all, if we don’t love what we’re creating, why do it?

How refreshing, when your work comes together at the end.

Peace!

A proud Daddy moment!

I know this space is usually dedicated to my comic book adventures, but I just had to share this little moment I had tonight.

As a child I remember, very fondly, waking up on school mornings, getting ready for school and then eating my bowl of cereal in front of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon.

You know the one, “Turtles in a half shell…TURTLE POWER!”

I loved that cartoon. And this was way before I knew that an Eastman or Laird even existed.

So as I sat in my basement with my kids and threw in the first episode of that old cartoon, it sent goose bumps through me seeing how favorable my kids thought of the show.

Is it dated? Sure. Is the animation pretty shabby at parts? Yep. But did it grab the imagination of a six and two year old the same way it grabbed mine many years ago? Amazingly, yes!

Here’s a screen grab from my phone, for prosperity of course!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

Ahhh…the simple things in life are always the best!

You should see my son run around the house fighting the Foot Soldiers now. Life is good…

Another day, another cover!

The next cover came through earlier today and is looking pretty grand.

It’s exciting to see that we are well on our way to getting these bad boys printed. Been a long time coming, will be nice to see the final result when we get them back.

Getting back to work though, still have to finish issue #4 and continue the start of the OOTW webcomic!

Talk soon! In the mean time, check out and enjoy the cover to issue #2!

We get to see Max, his folks, Samantha and Sydney for the first time on a cover! Woot!

Out of This World #1 Colored Cover!

Gosh darn do I love getting e-mail from Steve and Jamal.

Wow. As a writer it's always a great experience to see an idea that was locked in your head transformed in to a wonderful piece of art. Basically, as a person with no artistic talents, its great to see someone with great artistic talent.

In this piece Steve and I wanted to portray a literal "out of this world" experience for Max. I mean, what screams "out of this world" more than actually being blown off of the face of the earth?!

So here's to the first issue, time to slap the logo on, wrap it up and go to print!

UPDATE: Yes, I did start this post with "gosh darn". ;)

More New Cover Line Art

Even more cover goodness! Steve is knocking these out of the park.  Love the fact that Max is literally being blown off the planet and out of this world.

Will look even sweeter once Jamal gets his hands on it and colors it all up…

A “Kickstart”? Exactly what I’ve been needing around here…

Wow, things have been busy.  I’ve neglected being as social as I should have been the last several weeks.  Time to change that.

If you’re a reader of the site you know that I was invited in to the Kickstarter.com community in order to help find  funding for this fun little project I call Out of This World comics.

But in order to have great success at it (success meaning having fun talking to new folks as equally as it means finding funding) you have to be on the ball, working the social networks.

Well, any OOTW time has been spent writing, lettering, and doing print prep for the last while.

Ugh.

But, this is the fun part and I’m excited to have some more time on my hands as I wait for new art pages to come in.  So I thought I would take the time to post about the project at Kickstarter.com again. After all, it is my Kickstarter responsibility.

Thanks Kickstarter for giving me the kick start I need!  If you feel like reading about how you can help the OOTW project, read on below.

If you can’t peddle your own wares, who will right?

New Cover line art!

Excited to post these bad boys up.  Will be even more excited to see the colored versions of them which will be arriving in my inbox (in my inbox?) in a day or two.

On this cover we get to see some more characters that are featured in the book.  His folks.  His dog.  And of course, one of my favorite characters, Samantha.  She's a cool gal.

And an ode to my now deceased dog, Sydney, who makes an appearance throughout the comic as Max's dog.  It's name?  Sydney of course.  RIP Syd!

Hope you like it!

New Out of This World Cover Ideas

We've recently made the decision to release the next volume of OOTW as individual comics as well as the collected trade paperback which was our initial plan.

As we looked at the 70+ pages that we now have completed it became very obvious that they all work as single issues since we were breaking the book up in to 23 page chapters.

So with the summer comic convention season upon us we are gearing up for some actual OOTW printing goodness!

Below are some cover ideas for the first two issues.  I'll be posting the ones we picked and the final versions soon.

Never Touch Transportational Residue!

This is page 21 of the graphic novel. Max is still on the planet Earth before reaching out and touching the Transportational Residue which sets off this explosion that you see here.

When he wakes up he finds himself in a not so friendly place on a not so friendly planet.

So I repeat:

Never Touch Transportational Residue!

Your welcome.

Read the first Book of "Out of This World" for FREE!

That's right, I recently uploaded the entire first issue of the four issue Out of This World comic book mini-series on ComicSpace.com.  I'm very excited and humbled by the response I have received so far, it's great to hear from people who enjoy the book.

I'm looking forward to posting the other issues as well in order to let readers experience the full adventures of Max and company.

If you like what you read make sure to check out the other OOTW comic books, which include 8 activities in each issue.  The printed versions of each book are fantastic as they are 8.5 x 11.  Huge, huge comic books!

Drop by and let me know what you think about this issue and the rest of the series.

Talk to you guys soon....and let it be known, Steve and I are still hard at work on the new issues.
